Today, I want to talk to you about the connection between diabetes and sleep. As a diabetes patient, it is important to understand the link between your blood sugar levels and the quality of your sleep. Poor sleep can lead to higher blood sugar levels and poor blood sugar control, while good sleep can help to improve blood sugar control. One of the main reasons for this connection is the effect that sleep has on the production of hormones in the body. When we sleep, our bodies release less of the hormone cortisol, which helps to regulate blood sugar levels. On the other hand, when we don't get enough sleep, our bodies release more cortisol, which can lead to higher blood sugar levels.
