WELLNESS WEDNESDAY - 5 TIPS to find Support and Resources for Living better with Diabetes

Hi there! My name is Dr. B Jagadish, and I am a Diabetes Wellbeing Coach. As someone who has lived with diabetes for many years, I know firsthand how overwhelming and isolating it can feel at times. But I also know that there is a wealth of support and resources out there that can help you live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life with diabetes. In this article, I will share some tips and strategies for finding the support and resources you need to manage your diabetes and thrive.

- Reach out to your healthcare team:

Your healthcare team, which may include your primary care doctor, endocrinologist, nurse, and/or diabetes educator, is a valuable source of support and information. They can provide you with guidance on managing your blood sugar levels, answer your questions about diabetes, and help you develop a plan for living well with the condition.

- Connect with other people with diabetes:

It can be helpful to connect with other people who are living with diabetes. Whether it's through an in-person support group or an online community, connecting with others who understand what you're going through can be a great source of support and encouragement.

- Utilize online resources:

There are many websites and apps that provide information and resources for people with diabetes. Some examples include the American Diabetes Association, the Diabetes Self-Management website, and the My Diabetes My Way app. These resources can help you learn more about diabetes and find ways to manage the condition.

- Seek out local resources:

Many communities have local organizations that offer support and resources for people with diabetes. For example, hospitals and clinics may offer diabetes education classes, and community centers may offer support groups and other resources.

- Take care of yourself:

In addition to seeking out support and resources, it's important to take care of yourself on a daily basis. This may include getting regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, and managing stress. Taking care of yourself can help you better manage your diabetes and improve your overall quality of life.

Living with diabetes can be challenging, but it is also an opportunity to make positive changes in your life. By seeking out the support and resources you need, you can live a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life with diabetes.
